Q:Dave, thanks a alot for doing this interview, we know you're a busy guy. Where are you now?

A: In my home in HB. We just did the CombiPool contest this weekend. It was a Blast! I am leaving tomorrow for Copenhagen, Sweden, Hamburg and Austria for the
Quiksilver Bowlriders tour.

Q:Most people know you as the famous announcer. But you've been skating alot longer then announcing, how long have you been on a board?

A:I started on my brothers steel wheeled board in 1969 when I was 7. By the time I was around 10-11 we were skating the Black Knight clay wheeled boards to
school and around the neighborhood with the surfers. We would shape our own boards. Then when I was 12 in 1974 Urethane wheels changed it all. Banks and Pools were the new spots and we were ready to Charge!! Then we made better boards in Woodshop at school. Innovative 3 ply Maple and Ash laminates to bend them for a rocker like the Z-Flex's.

Unity Caught up with Dave Duncan for a short nterview...this one goes out to one of the guys that keeps skateboarding fun. No matter where you are, in your prime, a starting AM or a seasoned pro Dave is down for you. This guy just wants to skate and that's what matters. Good friends, good scene, good times. The next beer is on us, Dave.

I got to ride a lot of the concrete parks
throughout the 70's and 80's. I also skated a lot of Am comps up until 1987 when I turned Pro for Alva in 1987. I used to Build and Design alot of the Ramps for the World Cup Tours so it's kept me busy travelin', and hittin' up new spots with some good crews. I feel like I have been on summer vacation for 20 years. It has been a Blast!! Thanks to World Cup!

Q: In your years of announcing and skating. Going to the biggest events in the skateboard industry, you've seen Am's make it big, Pros at their prime and trends come and go. What are some things that will always stay the same in
skating?

A: The thrill of riding a new spot. A good session with your friends old and new. Also all of the stories after the session.

Q:Randy and Tyler said you came to the " green room" in Fayetville at the MASA open and said you were stoked on their skating and they did really good. What made them stand out to you?

A: It looked like they were just ripping and having fun.

Q:In all your years in the industry, name three competitions that stand out in your mind the most.

A: ProTec Pool Party 2006, Quicksilver Bowlriders in Marseille every year, Slam City Jam for 11 good years, Xgames in LA. All of the Europe contests, The Soul Bowl in HB at the Beach, and the Soul Bowl at the Download Festival in UK in June is Rockin'!! Monsters of Rock, 100 Bands in 3 days. Melbourne World Cup. Also Brazil, Prague and Japan are always fun...

Q:Personally, which would you like to see more. Shock value tricks? Or cruising style?

A: I like it all, but during a contest you gotta standout to impress the crowd and the judges.

Q:What do you think is needed the most in skating right now?

A: More Pools! More Concrete Parks with Pool coping! More Frontside Grinds! More Air! More Fun!

Q: Give three companies a shout out that is doing skating alot of good right now.

A: They all seem to contribute in there own way. I like watchin' all of the new videos and Movies. Hosoi's new Movie is amazing. Keep a look out for that. The shoe companies have the most $$ to put back, like the Vans Triple Crowns for 10 years. The Daggers are Rising up from the Underground. Check out www.daggerskates.com

Q: For last, but certainly not least, who would you like to thank and give shout outs to?

A:Mom and Dad for that fun night at the Drive-in, Tony Alva for hooking me up in the 80's. Fausto RIP for personally handing me a set of Indy's in 1983. All of the crew at Spitfire, Flip, DC, Volcom, Quik and World Cup.
Hosoi, Eddie Reategui, Olson and all of the Daggers. Thanks to all who I've shared good times with over the years. Let the good times Roll!! Pave the World!!
